BMW 8 Series

The BMW 8 Series sits at the top of BMWs coupe lineup, offered in Pakistan in two variants: the 840i with a turbocharged 3.0L inline-six, and the M850i xDrive with a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 pushing significantly more power through all four wheels. The 840i is the more relaxed grand tourer of the two, with smooth power delivery suited to highway cruising, while the M850i is noticeably more aggressive in throttle response and overall character. Both come with an 8-speed automatic that shifts cleanly in normal driving but holds gears well when pushed.

In the Pakistani market, the 8 Series is a grey-market or personal import in most cases, which means parts availability is limited to specialist importers in Karachi and Lahore. Local mechanics with BMW experience exist in major cities but are not widespread, so ownership typically means relying on a handful of authorised or semi-authorised workshops. Resale is slow compared to Japanese alternatives, and values can drop sharply if the car develops a reputation for issues.

The 8 Series suits a buyer who already owns a daily driver and wants a weekend or occasional-use coupe. The honest limitation is the cost of ownership in Pakistan — parts, tyres, and specialist labour add up quickly. Not a practical sole vehicle.
