Three variants are available in Pakistan: the entry xDrive20i with a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder, the xDrive30i with a more potent tune of the same engine family, and the range-topping M40i with a 3.0L inline-six producing serious performance. In city traffic, expect fuel consumption to be on the higher side given the vehicle's weight and performance tuning — the M40i especially rewards highway driving more than stop-and-go commuting. The eight-speed automatic in all variants is smooth and well-matched to daily use.

In Pakistan, the X4 is primarily a grey-import vehicle, which means parts sourcing can be challenging and expensive. Local mechanics familiar with BMW platforms exist mainly in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, but specialist knowledge is concentrated at a few workshops. Resale is decent among enthusiast buyers but the market is narrower than Japanese alternatives. Older units should be checked for timing chain condition, suspension wear, and DSC module health.
