The Hyundai Starex is a full-size van available in two diesel variants in Pakistan — the GLS and the higher-spec Royale, both powered by a 2.5-litre CRDi turbodiesel engine. This is a workhorse people-mover aimed at families needing 9 to 12 seats, tour operators, and corporate shuttle use. The CRDi diesel delivers reasonable pulling power for a loaded van, and in city traffic you can expect fuel returns in the 8 to 11 km/l range depending on load and driving conditions. The transmission is generally smooth enough for daily use.

The Starex has a solid presence in Pakistani cities, particularly in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad where it is commonly used for school runs, hotel transfers, and family travel. Diesel mechanics familiar with CRDi systems are available in most urban centres, though parts can take longer to source than Japanese alternatives. Older units may need attention to injectors, suspension bushings, and AC systems. Resale holds reasonably well given consistent demand from commercial buyers.

The Royale trim adds comfort features suited to passenger-focused use, while the GLS is more practical for utility. The honest limitation is that running costs on an ageing CRDi can climb if injectors or the turbo need work. Best suited to buyers needing a high-capacity van for regular group transport.
