About Hyundai

Hyundai Motor Company was founded in 1967 by Chung Ju-yung in Seoul, growing out of his Hyundai Engineering and Construction empire. Within two decades the company went from licence-building Ford Cortinas to designing its own small cars; today the Hyundai-Kia Motor Group is one of the world's largest automakers, with a reputation built on long warranties, generous standard equipment, and aggressive price-to-content ratios.

In Pakistan, Hyundai is sold and assembled by Hyundai Nishat Motor Limited — a joint venture between the Nishat Group, Sojitz Corporation of Japan, and Hyundai Motor Company. The plant near Faisalabad began production in 2020 with the Tucson and has expanded to include the Elantra, Sonata, Santa Fe, Porter pickup, and the Ioniq EV lineup. The brand's positioning is the modern alternative to the long-established Japanese players: roomier cabins, more tech as standard, and stronger styling — at prices that still undercut Toyota and Honda at the segment.

What makes Hyundai relevant in Pakistan today is its breadth. Few brands cover the budget pickup, family sedan, mid-size SUV, and electric segments under one dealer roof — and the Ioniq 5 and 6 give Hyundai an EV story that most Pakistani brands still don't have.

Hyundai FAQs

Common questions Pakistani buyers ask before choosing this brand.

Who manufactures Hyundai cars in Pakistan?
Hyundai cars in Pakistan are produced and sold by Hyundai Nishat Motor Limited (HNMPL), a joint venture between the Nishat Group of Pakistan, Sojitz Corporation of Japan, and Hyundai Motor Company of South Korea. The company's assembly plant is located near Faisalabad and began commercial production in 2020.
Which is the most popular Hyundai model in Pakistan?
The Hyundai Tucson has been the brand's flagship in Pakistan since launch — a mid-size SUV that competes directly with the Honda BR-V, MG HS, and KIA Sportage. The Sonata occupies the premium-sedan slot above the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, while the Porter pickup serves the commercial and small-business segment.
Does Hyundai offer electric or hybrid cars in Pakistan?
Yes — Hyundai is one of the most active EV brands in Pakistan. The Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 (full electric) are sold here under Pakistan's EV policy, and the Tucson HEV gives the brand a hybrid option. Electric Hyundais qualify for the lower customs duties on EVs and the recently expanded EV-friendly registration in several provinces.
How does Hyundai compare to Toyota and Honda in Pakistan?
Hyundai positions itself as the modern alternative — typically more equipment as standard (touchscreens, LED lighting, ADAS features), more cabin space, and bolder design — at a slight price advantage. Toyota and Honda still win on resale value and on the depth of their service networks, especially outside the major cities. For a buyer weighing day-one features versus 5-year resale, the trade-off is real.
What is the warranty on a new Hyundai in Pakistan?
HNMPL has historically offered competitive warranty terms in line with Hyundai's global "America's Best Warranty" reputation, including extended coverage on the powertrain and a separate longer warranty on EV batteries. Exact terms vary by model and active promotions — confirm the current warranty card with the dealer at delivery.
Should I buy a new Hyundai or a used Hyundai in Pakistan?
A new Hyundai gets you the latest tech (which is one of the brand's strengths), full warranty, and no maintenance history risk. A used Hyundai — the Tucson and Sonata are the most-listed — saves a meaningful chunk on the depreciation curve. Verify service-book history; Hyundai engines are reliable, but skipped maintenance shows up later. CarDeal lists both new variants and live used Hyundai inventory side by side.
