About Toyota

Toyota Motor Corporation was founded in 1937 by Kiichiro Toyoda, spinning the automotive division off from his father's Toyoda Automatic Loom Works. From a single sedan in postwar Japan, Toyota grew into the world's largest automaker by volume — known globally for the Toyota Production System, near-legendary reliability, and a refusal to chase trends at the cost of build quality.

In Pakistan, Toyota is sold and assembled by Indus Motor Company (IMC), a joint venture between House of Habib, Toyota Motor Corporation, and Toyota Tsusho Corporation, operating since 1989 from a plant in Port Qasim, Karachi. The Corolla has been a fixture of Pakistani roads for over three decades and is consistently the most-searched used car on every Pakistani classifieds site. The Yaris, Hilux, Fortuner, Land Cruiser, and Hiace round out a lineup that covers everything from first-time buyers to fleet operators to off-road enthusiasts.

What sets Toyota apart in this market isn't any single feature — it's the combination of conservative engineering, a deep parts and service network across every major city, and resale value that consistently leads its class. Buyers don't just buy a Toyota; they buy a car they know will still be worth selling five years later.

Toyota FAQs

Common questions Pakistani buyers ask before choosing this brand.

Who manufactures Toyota cars in Pakistan?
Toyota cars in Pakistan are produced and sold by Indus Motor Company (IMC), a joint venture between House of Habib, Toyota Motor Corporation, and Toyota Tsusho Corporation. IMC has been operating since 1989, with assembly at its plant in Port Qasim, Karachi.
Which is the most popular Toyota car in Pakistan?
The Toyota Corolla has been the best-selling sedan in Pakistan for decades and is the most-searched used car across virtually every Pakistani classifieds site. In recent years the Yaris (positioned below the Corolla) and the Hilux pickup have also become high-volume sellers, while the Fortuner and Land Cruiser dominate the premium SUV segments.
Does Toyota offer hybrid or electric cars in Pakistan?
Toyota offers hybrid variants of select models in Pakistan — the Corolla Cross Hybrid being the most prominent example. Toyota's global hybrid lineup is extensive, but Pakistan-spec availability of full hybrids and EVs is rolled out gradually based on local infrastructure and demand. Always confirm current hybrid availability with an IMC dealer.
Why do Toyota cars hold their value better in Pakistan?
Three reasons. First, mechanical reliability — Toyota engines are conservatively engineered and have an enormous installed base, so spare parts and qualified mechanics are easy to find anywhere in Pakistan. Second, the resale buyer base is huge — almost every used-car buyer trusts the Toyota brand by default. Third, Toyota tends to refresh designs incrementally rather than radically, so a 5-year-old Corolla doesn't look dated next to a current one.
How does Toyota compare to Honda and Suzuki in Pakistan?
In broad strokes: Suzuki dominates the budget and small-car segment, Toyota dominates the mid-size sedan and SUV segments, and Honda sits between them with a slight premium / sportier positioning. The Corolla and Civic are direct rivals; the Yaris and City are direct rivals; in the SUV space, Toyota faces Hyundai, KIA, MG, and Changan more than the Japanese rivals.
Should I buy a new Toyota or a used Toyota in Pakistan?
A new Toyota gets you the latest safety features, full warranty, and dealership-backed servicing. A used Toyota — especially a 3-to-5-year-old Corolla, Yaris, or Fortuner — typically saves a meaningful percentage off the new price while still delivering most of the practical reliability you're paying for. CarDeal lists both new Toyota variants and live used Toyota inventory side by side so you can compare what your budget actually buys.
