About Suzuki

Suzuki started in 1909 as a loom manufacturer in the Japanese silk-weaving town of Hamamatsu. After Japan's textile industry collapsed mid-century, founder Michio Suzuki pivoted the company first to motorcycles, then to small cars — a segment most large automakers ignored, and which Suzuki would go on to dominate worldwide.

In Pakistan, Suzuki is the country's largest passenger-car manufacturer by volume. Pak Suzuki Motor Company has been operating since 1983, originally as a joint venture with the Government of Pakistan, with Suzuki Motor Corporation acquiring full ownership in 2024. Production runs out of the Bin Qasim plant in Karachi.

For an entire generation of Pakistani families, the first car was a Suzuki — a Mehran, an Alto, a Cultus, or a Bolan. The lineup today centers on the Alto (the best-selling car in Pakistan year after year), the Wagon R, the Cultus, and the Swift, with the Bolan and Ravi serving the commercial and rural segments. Suzuki's parts network is the deepest in the country: every neighbourhood mechanic in every city stocks Alto and Cultus parts. That accessibility, combined with low fuel costs and entry-level pricing, is why Suzuki remains the default first car in Pakistan.

Suzuki FAQs

Common questions Pakistani buyers ask before choosing this brand.

Who owns Pak Suzuki Motors?
Pak Suzuki Motor Company has been operating in Pakistan since 1983. Originally established as a joint venture with the Government of Pakistan, Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan acquired full ownership of Pak Suzuki in 2024 and the company was subsequently delisted from the Pakistan Stock Exchange. Production continues from the company's plant in Bin Qasim, Karachi.
Which is the cheapest Suzuki car in Pakistan?
The Suzuki Alto has been the most affordable Suzuki — and the most affordable mainstream new car overall — in Pakistan for years. It's the most common entry point for first-time buyers and one of the highest-volume models on Pakistani roads. Specific pricing varies by variant and current model year; check the live pricing on the Alto detail page for current ex-factory rates.
Which Suzuki car has the best fuel economy?
Suzuki's reputation in Pakistan is built on small, efficient engines, and the Alto is typically the fuel-economy leader in the lineup thanks to its 660cc and 800cc engine options. The Wagon R and Cultus also deliver strong real-world fuel economy. For the latest figures, refer to each model's detail page — they show variant-level engine specs and manufacturer-claimed economy.
Suzuki Alto vs Suzuki Cultus — which should I buy?
The Alto is smaller, lighter, more affordable, and more fuel-efficient — best for solo commuters, students, and small families on a tight budget. The Cultus is a step up: more interior space, more comfortable on long drives, slightly more powerful. If your daily drive is mostly city, the Alto is the right call; if you do regular intercity trips or carry four passengers often, the Cultus is worth the extra spend.
Is the Suzuki Mehran still in production in Pakistan?
No. Pak Suzuki ended production of the Mehran in 2019 after a remarkably long run as Pakistan's entry-level car. The Alto effectively replaced the Mehran in the lineup. Used Mehrans are still widely traded on the second-hand market — you'll find current Mehran listings on CarDeal's used-car section.
Should I buy a new Suzuki or a used Suzuki in Pakistan?
New Suzukis come with a manufacturer warranty and zero accident history — important for first-time buyers who don't have a trusted mechanic. Used Suzukis are extremely accessible: parts are everywhere, mechanics in every neighbourhood know these cars, and depreciation is gentler than for many imported brands. If your budget is tight, a 3-to-5-year-old Alto, Cultus, or Wagon R is one of the safest used buys in Pakistan.
